Laver - London, Brian Flinn - Wilts, Nigel Lacey - National Standard awaiting
and sunny day was enhanced by the cheerful crowd of over 2000 bodies and the
high professionalism of the RAF Police and the Association members taking
Chairman Alan Mitchell lead our small contingent in guard
of honour duties, plus leading out the 4 teams onto the pitch. There everyone
stood to attention for the "Last Post" and later for the National Anthem. The
Association National Standard was paraded by Nigel Lacey, Whitshire by Brian
Flinn and London by Roy Laver. The following variously took part in the day's
events. Roger Dengate, John Walton, Bill White, Andy Davies, Mike Archer, John
Crosby, Wayne Dewfall, Peter Todd, Keith Button. On "duty" we were all under
the command of Bill Veazey MBE, the Association National Parade Marshal. In
addition and keeping us all safe, was the Rev Jez Safford. The RAF Police Association were
permitted to share the RAF Police marquee. Under Brian Flinn's close
supervision, Joy Flinn and Ali White maintained our display and answered many
questions throughout a long very hot day and we thank the ladies for their great
"The RAF Police 100 Rugby Festival, took place on Saturday 19 May
2018, at Aylesbury Rugby Football Club. The RAF Police ladies lost to a
combined English Police team. The RAF Police gentlemen lost to the Metropolitan
Police team. But (and a big but), was that those who know about rugby, say they
were both closely fought games.
