Today the 11th March 2015 the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas, Staffordshire was the venue for our annual RAFP Snowdrop Parade.
The weather was kind to us with the sun shining out of a clear blue sky.
A display of snowdrops could be seen on the bank behind our Memorial.( this year the groundsman had not mown the grass allowing them to show their nodding white flowers)
The morning was slightly spoilt by a bitterly cold wind blowing across the open ground making the duties of the Standard bearers difficult (to say the least).
The Provost Marshall took the salute as the parade marched past led by 14 Royal Air Force Police personnel, followed by 10 Standards, made up of our National Standard, 4 R.A.F.P.A. Branch Standards and 5 RMP Standards.
The body of the parade was made up of 18 mixed R.A.F.P.A and RMPA personnel...
A service of Remembrance, followed by wreaths being laid at both R.A.F.P.A and RMPA sites completed the formalities.
The entire party then retired to the RBL at Alrewas were a buffet lunch was enjoyed in a good atmosphere with friendly banter between the old guard and the young pretenders.
All in all a good day, new friendships formed and plans made for next year.
